the closure of pits
The Path links two striking locations near Zschornewitz. The northern point of
departure is Golpa-Nord pit near Gräfenhainichen with Ferropolis.
To the south, the path links Zschornewitz and the power station (as an industrial
monument) with the top of Golpa II tip.
The »summit« in the middle of the project area of the Industrial Garden Realm is a barren
and desolate formation. From here, one can enjoy a unique panoramic view of the region.
»Golpa Heights Wind Park«, which includes ten wind turbines, is being installed on the
plateau.
Passing from one location to the next, one witnesses the various stages of industrial
development and the resulting changes to the countryside. In the course of time, an area
is to be created between Golpa-Nord and Golpa II tip whose special attraction will be the
striking manner in which it shows the industrial depletion of the bases of our existence
-a characteristic feature of this past century. At the same time, however, it will show
ways in which modern technology can be combined with ecologically-friendly energy
production.
Traces of industrial history and new design elements
fit into the countryside like a string
of pearls along approximately eight kilometers, thus creating a contemporary counterpart to
the »Garden Realms main avenue«, between Dessau and Wörlitz, only a few kilometers away.
